Testimonials

Saint Leo University first starting working with Dick Jones Communications in 2006. We’ve built a long-standing working relationship with founder, Richard Jones and president, Scott Willyerd.

They lead a strong team of professionals with a combined knowledge and depth of experience with higher ed and the national media that allows them to be professional, nimble, responsive and creative.

They assist us with routine issues to specialized events and high-level institutional and executive issues.   They are attentive, knowledgeable, and always accessible.

In addition to daily emails and occasional phone calls, they come to our university campus once a year to meet with professors and other staff members that they will be contacting and working with on media inquiries.

Dick Jones Communications does an outstanding job serving us and we highly recommend them to other colleges and universities.

The University of Missouri’s News Bureau hired Dick Jones Communications to help our staff develop strategic methods for obtaining national news coverage. Before we hired Dick, we had good success in the local, state and regional areas, but were lacking good methods to establish our reputation nationally. They came to campus, met with deans and major faculty “newsmakers.” From there, they helped me and my staff develop strategies for obtaining national news coverage in newspapers, trade publications, TV, radio, etc. In a very short time, the number and quality of news placements about the University of Missouri began to increase. Now, wenormally obtain between 100 and 250 national news placements a week, and we are still using Dick Jones Communications strategies!

What I especially liked about working with Dick and his associates was his honest, common sense approach to gaining news coverage. I still quote him to professors and administrators about what constitutes a national news story. I will always be indebted to Dick for putting us on the national radar and for helping me train dozens of staff members on the best methods for elevating the prestige of our University, faculty and administration!

Dick Jones Communications has been a tremendous asset to Roanoke College’s media program. Dick and his staff have worked with our faculty to publish op-eds in newspapers across the country. We’ve also had professors quoted in Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, CNN.com, The Dallas Morning News, The Chronicle of Higher Education and USA Today. Our commencement speakers have been included in the New York Times commencement coverage for several years and we’ve had several stories really take off through AP wire distribution.

Dick Jones Communications has been a critical partner in elevating Susquehanna University’s media profile.  Expansion of our media presence is a very important element of the university’s positioning strategy.  Dick Jones has helped us make tremendous strides in this area, so important to heightening awareness of the excellence of the Susquehanna brand.

Dick Jones paid for himself 10 times over during the first month of his contract. We achieved international coverage for two weeks with one of our faculty experts. In addition to dozens of radio and TV interviews, we scored several times in such papers as the New York Times, Chicago Tribune and Boston Globe. The icing was our faculty member’s appearance on ‘Meet The Press.’ We’re in the state and national media on a regular basis. We’ve tried it without him and we know for a fact that Dick Jones Communications is responsible for making these things happen.

Directly as a result of Dick Jones Communications, the amount of regional and national exposure for Lebanon Valley College has increased significantly each of the four years that I have been in my position. It recently reached the ultimate level when LVC was featured in a 150-second segment on ABC World News Tonight with Peter Jennings. This feature, which likely would have cost around $500,000 if it were a paid advertisement, immediately resulted in a flurry of phone calls, e-mails and online applications to our admission office.
